Tyler BleuelYale University (Matriculating Fall 2015)
New York, NY, United States Hi! I am a high school senior in Bronx, NY, and will be starting my undergraduate studies at Yale University in the fall of 2015. I am interested in advancing civil and human rights from many diverse perspectives through bridge-building and greater international understanding. I have been a Youth Advisory Council member for generationOn, the youth enterprise of Points of Light since 2012, and at school, I lead the Science Fusion and the Women’s Issues Clubs, and organized and hosted a Social Entrepreneurship Conference, where I also featured TASC. Studying in China allowed me to combine my two passions: youth service and building cross-cultural friendships, and I helped found the first generationOn service clubs in China by sparking student interest for youth volunteerism. As an inaugural Project Pengyou Leadership Fellow I help support the President’s 100K Strong initiative by leading groundbreaking nationwide campaign to promote Mandarin study and constructive exchanges with China, to improve U.S.-China ties.
I applied to TASC to deepen my understanding and appreciation of Taiwan’s role on international stage as well as of East Asian politics, history and culture. I enjoyed delving into the increasingly complex, challenging and multifaceted Taiwan-China-U.S. relations and loved every moment with my fellow delegates and experiencing all that Taiwan has to offer. As a member of the Executive Committee, I am looking forward to encouraging wider participation and creating an opportunity to deepen our mutual understanding of each other’s cultures, histories, and, most importantly, people. |
