Yi Ju ChangNational Taiwan University
Taiwanese Vice Chair Yi Ju Chang is a senior at National Taiwan University double-majoring in Political Science and Economics. She will further her graduate education specializing in economic and political development at Columbia University in 2019-21.
Yi Ju has strong passion in international political and economic development, with the Pacific region as her focused concern. She has worked with the Asian Network for Free Election in Thailand on advocacy on democratization in Asia and the Global Shapers Community Taipei Hub on youth empowerment projects. Furthermore, Yi Ju has been enthusiastic about public engagement and international affairs. She has served as the Chinese Taipei (Taiwan) delegate at 2017 APEC Voices of the Future, the Vice President of the Student Association of Department of Political Science endeavoring for students’ rights, the delegate of the Asia Pacific Youth Exchange co-hosted by the UNDP initiating an award-winning SDGs project in rural Thailand, the Honorary Student Ambassador at her university receiving international scholars and guests for over 50 hours of service, among many others. These hands-on international experiences have sharpened her coordination and communication skills in multicultural settings, reaffirmed her commitment to development issues, and on top of that, never ceased to amaze her with sparkling inspirations ignited by interaction among people from diverse social and cultural backgrounds. Committed to international political and economic development, Yi Ju wishes to advance her master education in the U.S. and aspires to a career as a social consultant leveraging her specialties in Development Studies with political perspectives and economic methodology. Through 2019 TASC, Yi Ju intends to gain more well-rounded insights into cultural diversity and foster students to students ties between Taiwan and the U.S. |
