National Cheng Kung University
Taiwanese Marketing Director
Chiao-Mei Liu is currently a sophomore at National Cheng Kung University where she is studying Planning and Design in the Cross-College Elite Program. Having great passion for architecture and urban planning, Chiao-Mei wants to be an architect with humanistic care and social responsibility in the future.
She is actively interested in international issues thus had taken courses related to international relations. However, despite such interests, she hasn’t had the chance to go abroad. Through her experience with TASC, she was given the opportunity to learn more about American culture. Though she was once afraid of communicating in English, she soon realized during TASC that the her greatest obstacle was not her lack of ability but her fear of making mistakes. Although her speaking was not as fluent as others, everyone was willing to listen patiently to her ideas, which gradually gave her courage. It brought her great joy in being able to engage in discussions related to education, religion, dating culture, and gender stereotypes in both America and Taiwan. With all that she had gained from this experience, she was ultimately glad that she had ventured out of her comfort zone.
While Chiao-Mei enjoys artsy products, she claims to be down to earth as she specializes in blurting out dad jokes. In her free time, she enjoys visiting monuments in Tainan and drawing on any piece of paper within her reach.
