Brian Jeremy LiuGeorge Washington University '16
Director of Recruitment San Francisco, CA Brian is a senior majoring in international affairs with a concentration in security policy, currently studying in Hong Kong and Beijing on a National Security Education Program Boren Scholarship. His family immigrated from Zhongshan, China to Chinatown, San Francisco, where Brian grew up.
Brian joined TASC to develop a better understanding of Taiwanese politics. Having previously worked and studied in Beijing and Hong Kong, Brian wanted to develop a better understanding of the interplay between Taiwan, Hong Kong, and China in the context of cross-Strait dialogue and the “one country, two systems” model. While he originally joined TASC to gain a better understanding of the political aspects of Taiwan, he left with a far better appreciation for the cultural aspects of Taiwan as well. He is now very fond of Taiwanese night markets. In addition to his studies, Brian works as a research intern for the North Korea Strategy Center, an NGO and think tank based in Seoul, and as a research assistant for at the Institute for International Economic Policy on a study of UN accountability processes. Previously, Brian interned for the Harvard Human Rights Policy Center and the U.S. Department of State in the Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor. |
