Chi  Huynh

University of Wisconsin - Madison
Director of Communications
Madison, WI, United States
Ciao! My name is Chi Huynh (Pronounced Chee Who-in). I am Vietnamese-American. I am a third year student studying in International Studies and Educational Policy at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. I was born in Iowa but was mostly raised in Rockford, Illinois. I am interested in globalization and intercultural interaction. Last fall, I was the Program Developer for Project Pengyou-UW-Madison Chapter and helped create a seminar for this current semester called U.S.-China Relations Intercultural Conversation.

Currently, I am studying in Roma, Italia for the semester. It has been an exciting time, and my experiences in Roma have given me a chance to learn and grow. During my first few weeks in Roma, I only spoke English to the locals. For example, I would always order for a cappuccino (which is fantastic here) in English. However, I realized that I put myself in a foreign country for the intercultural experiences. Although I felt most comfortable speaking English to the Italian locals, I realized how uncomfortable I could have made them feel in their own homeland. I can now order my own cappuccino! “Un cappuccino, per favore." I also love traveling. I have been lucky to visit other parts of Italia including Venezia, Montepulciano in Tuscany, and Ostia Antica. I have also recently traveled to Barcelona,
España. I am excited to share my experiences and learn about the people and culture in Taiwan!
