Lilly Sedaghat

University of California - Berkeley
Leadership Development Coordinator
Berkeley, CA, United States
What's going on, folks? My name is Lilly Sedaghat and I graduated in 2014 with a Bachelor's degree in Political Economy from UC-Berkeley. My love of cultures has led to an extensive international journey: from supporting a children's non-profit in Costa Rica to initiating an Affirmative Action platform for a leading business in India and interning at the Carnegie-Tsinghua Center for Global Policy in Beijing, China. I am the current Research Team Leader for the Global Partnerships Forum Book Project, a project highlighting global partnerships working to achieve UN Sustainable Development Goals.

I studied abroad at Peking University in the spring semester of my junior year and arrived in Beijing with no Mandarin skills. In the third month of my experience, I traveled to Taipei for a weekend and spent 72 hours break-dancing in the shadows of giant pagodas and brightly lit shopping districts, touring tea farms, playing with mountain monkeys, giving Will and Jaden Smith high-fives, and eating the most delicious food and shaved ice I never knew existed. The trip left a powerful imprint on me, and I left with
a strong determination to build a cross-cultural community. These experiences led me to organize Strait Talk Berkeley 2014 and to support TASC 2015 in bringing delegates together to share an unforgettable journey.
