American Chair Nicholas ‘Nick’ Durán is a senior at New York University studying Political Science with a minor in Environmental Studies. He is a former intern with the U.S. House of Representatives, as well as with the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) in Miami. Furthermore, he served as a past delegate in 2018’s Taiwan-America Student Conference, where he had the opportunity to grow his knowledge and understanding vis-à-vis the political and cultural nuances shaping contemporary Taiwanese society. Essential to Nick’s identity are his values for meaningful work and social responsibility which he proudly wears on his sleeve. He is currently interested in addressing and advocating for solutions to climate change through research, public policy, and regulatory enforcement. Intent on one day practicing environmental law, he wishes to attend law school in the U.S. following the completion of his undergraduate program. In doing so, his greatest aim is to not only transform the planet into a cleaner and more enduring place, but to also create a world that is fairer and more considerate of the rights of both human and environmental stakeholders alike.
